Family of the Rising Phoenix (FRP) was the first coven under this tradition. FRP originally started under the umbrella of Family Wiccan Traditions International (FWTI) in 2006 as a small family coven that continued to grow after Amethyst Sage became a High Priestess and took in more students. After the closing of FWTI in 2010, FRP continued through a tough year of personal trials. In 2011 the members of FRP decided to open up the values of the coven and to allow others to train and practice under the same umbrella. In this transition, the Rising Phoenix Tradition now has more opportunities for growth and opening up our doors, with the help of the other covens of Rising Phoenix Tradition. The root coven of the tradition, FRP, continues to work, study and train with each other and support the building of community through spirituality. We look forward to growing that network as the Gods see fit.

It is important to include the influence of Cora Nettles (Co-Co) in discussions around FRP. My mother was one of the original people to sit down at the table and help to define what FRP was to each of us. She passed on January 29, 2010 but her memory lives on in many things, including with this tradition.
